Welcome to acTVism Munich’s video archive on whistleblowers, investigative journalists and former insiders. Here you will find our interviews with investigative journalists, former high-ranking officials & employees turned whistleblowers from various intelligence agencies and corporations, who, when confronted with injustice and wrongdoing, had the courage to speak out, stirring a public debate.

2017: This interview with Edward Snowden was undertaken by acTVism Munich on the 15th of January 2017 in Munich and was published in different parts due to technical difficulties. Hence it was republished today as one full version.

2015: In this video acTVism Munich interviews former CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) analyst, Ray McGovern, who talks about his experience in the agency and the reasons that led him to become an activist and outspoken critic of the US government.
2016: In this exclusive interview with Wikileaks investigations editor, Sarah Harrison, we talk about the case of Julian Assange, the findings of the UN working group on arbitrary detention, national security, international law and how one can support whistleblowers.
2016: For this exclusive acTVism video report, we travelled to the Volksbühne in Berlin in order to document the global event named “First they came for Assange” in which the case of Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange, was brought to the forefront. We talked directly to organizers and participants on the following issues: Assange’s case, the function and significance of whistleblowers in a democratic society, the German government’s handling of whistleblowers and the role that artists and activists can play to bring about meaningful change.
2015: In this video, acTVism Munich interviews William Binney to talk about his experience at the National Security Agency (NSA) where worked for circa 36 years and how he uncovered fraud, crime and corruption at the agency.
2014: In this speech, Glenn Greenwald reveals his experience with Edward Snowden and Laura Poitras in 2013 at Hong Kong before going public with the highly classified NSA documents. Greenwald also talks about the history of activism and pays tribue to personalities such as Rosa Park, Hans and Sophie Scholl. Other topics that he surfaces in-depth include the reaction of the US government to these revelations, signficance of Edward Snowden’s courage & the challenges that we face in the future.
2015: Golden Misabiko exposed a secret agreement between the Congolese government an French nuclear giant Areva in 2009. The agreement gave Areva permission to exploit Uranium in all of Congo’s territory. Misabiko was detained by and only released due to international pressure. He is living in exile since 2009.
