In the latest instalment of Women of the Resistance, Dimitri Lascaris speaks with Palestinian-British filmmaker Farah Nabulsi. The PRESENT, her directorial debut, which she also co-wrote and produced, premiered at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2020 and won the coveted Audience Award for Best Film. It went on to win over 50 International Film Festival Jury and Audience Awards, a BAFTA Award and an Oscar Nomination.

Her newest film, The TEACHER, had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2023. Commencing in April 2025, The Teacher will be shown in cinemas throughout North America and in some European nations. You can learn more about The Teacher here: https://theteacher.film/.

ABOUT DIMITRI LASCARIS

Dimitri Lascaris is a journalist and lawyer. As a lawyer, he specializes in class action litigation, international law and human rights. He was a member of the shadow cabinets of the Green Parties of Canada and Quebec. In 2020, he ran for the leadership of the Green Party of Canada and came in second. He is also the founder and editor of the YouTube channel Reasons 2 Resists with Dimitri Lascaris.

ABOUT FARAH NABULSI

Farah Nabulsi is a Palestinian-British filmmaker. Born, raised and educated in London, Farah began her career as an institutional equity stockbroker. She completed a CFA charter at JP Morgan Chase before launching and running a children’s specialist business for 10 years. In 2015, she started working in the film industry. Today, Farah is an Academy Award-nominated and BAFTA Award-winning filmmaker who writes, directs, and produces feature films inspired by socially relevant topics.
