In this video series, we document the journey of independent journalist and international law expert Dimitri Lascaris to Lebanon, where Israel and Hezbollah are at war.
The “Dahiya doctrine” is an illegal, Israeli military strategy involving the large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure, or ‘domicide’. The doctrine’s goal (which invariably fails to materialize) is to pressure governments and resistance groups to submit to Israel’s aggression. The doctrine was first championed by former Israeli Chief of General Staff Gadi Eizenkot. Eizenkot is currently a Minister without portfolio in Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right regime. Dimitri Lascaris is currently in Beirut, Lebanon. In this report, he examines the effects of the ‘Dayiha doctine’ in the very city from which the doctrine derives its name. Today (October 13, 2024), Lascaris visited a neighbourhood in Dahiya which Israel bombed several days ago.
Lascaris also visited the remains of an apartment building that Israel’s airforce demolished one day earlier. There, Lascaris spoke with a local resident who was near the building at the time of its destruction, and who rushed to the scene to help remove survivors from the rubble. Earlier in October, that same witness saw the destruction of a medical centre in south Lebanon. In all three bombings, the evidence points to war crimes by Israel.
These videos were produced by Dimitri Lascaris and published on his YouTube channel on the 13th and 14th of October, 2024. We have translated it into German and are republishing it today to help build opinion on this issue in Germany and beyond.
