Professor Dr. Heiner Flassbeck was Director of the Division for Globalization and Development Strategies at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development from 2003 to 2012. Prior to this position, he was State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Finance from 1998 to 1999, responsible for international affairs, the European Union and the IMF. The Hamburg University of Economics and Politics appointed Flassbeck an honorary professor in March 2005.
