Our first video release of the month will deal with the concept of “basic income” which guarantees citizens an unconditioned sum of money from the state that covers basic expenses such as rent, electricity, water and other fundamental costs needed for a basic level of existence. Our second release will include the first mini-video in German of an event organized by the University of Arizona College of Social and Behavioral Sciences called “A Conversation on Privacy” that hosted Edward Snowden, Glenn Greenwald and Noam Chomsky.
US Military Installations & Ramstein Demonstration
On the 11th of June, acTVism will aim to inform the public about U.S military bases around the globe and the effects they have on the environment, community and economy. Experts such as John Lindsay, Joseph Gerson and Noam Chomsky will provide their expertise on this matter. This video will be combined with a report that will cover grassroots demonstrations taking place on the 11th of June around the US Air Base in Ramstein, which is known for playing a central role in global drone operations. According to the Bureau of Investigative Journalism US drone operations have claimed the lives of circa 8215 humans and injured circa 240, which activists and human rights advocates cite as a reason for rising terrorism and militarization. They refute the claim of the United States and its allies that these drone operations have made the world more “secure” and consider it illegal under international and domestic law, as well as fundamentally immoral.
Bernie Sanders & Danny Glover on the Real Network
On the 16th of June, we are going to release an interview with Bernie Sanders & Danny Glover hosted by The Real News Network in the German language. Sanders & Glover address the economic difficulties faced in Baltimore and talk about the influence of Wall Street and the fossil fuel industry in the US political process. They also go through the arguments that favour voting for Hillary Clinton instead of Sanders and elaborate on what they mean by a “political revolution”. On the 21st of June, 2016, acTVism Munich will travel to Berlin where WikiLeaks is hosting an event for their founder, Julian Assange, who has been barred from leaving the Ecuadorian embassy in London on allegations which have been proven to be false. In this event the significance of whistleblowers and investigative journalists will be brought to light and acTVism Munich will produce a report which will include interviews with Sarah Harrison (Lawyer for Wikileaks), Jacob Appelbaum (Founder of Tor), Hans Christian Ströbele (German Politician), PJ Harvey (musician) and Angela Richter (Theatre Director). This event will take place globally via the internet in locations such as New York, Sydney, Naples, Quito, London and Geneva.Yanis Varoufakis on the EU Constitution, Disintegration and Orwellianism
For our last video of the month we return our focus back to the European continent to address the economic and social problems confronting it. Varoufakis provides us an insight into why the EU constitution does not represent the people of Europe and lacks substance. He also talks about disintegration of the European Union, what forces are driving its demise and how Orwellian language is used to hide this.
