UPDATE: Julian Assange to Apply to Appeal Extradition at the UK Supreme Court
In this video, we provide the latest update on the extradition proceedings of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Following a December 2021 ruling by the UK High Court, which accepted the US extradition request, Assange’s legal team submitted an application to the High Court to appeal the case at the Supreme Court. On January 24, the High Court certified one point of law which will allow for Assange to appeal to the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Assange remains in Belmarsh Prison. NGOs continue to raise awareness of the case and call upon the Biden Administration to drop the case.
